Lake Superior Agate LSA49 John Marshall, author of The Other Lake Superior Agates, examined this agate and had this comment, "This specimen exhibits a classic "Included Crystal" group. This is a preexisting quartz crystal grouping that formed in the cavity that the eventual Lake Superior Agate would also occupy. These water clear crystals were preserved by the surrounding agate. Without the support of the agate, the crystals would have been destroyed when the host rock was weathered. A very fine specimen that also includes amethyst." This agate was opticon coated when I got it. I've removed all the opticon and treated it lightly with mineral oil. Weighs 1 pound, 2.6 ounces. Measures 3 1/4 x 2 5/8 x 2 3/8 inches. $175
